parts to use in the race

Funds that can be used:

Participants may only use the tools and parts provided by the organisers.

To successfully complete the task, the organisers provide the following per team:

  • 1 laptop or desktop computer on which Studuino1, Studuino2, Studuino3, Studuino:bit, and the website https://makecode.microbit.org/# are installed.
  • ArTeC Robotist 1.0, ArTeC Robotist 2.0 or ArTeC Robotist micro:bit robotics and ArTeC Blocks building blocks
  • During the competition, we will hold 3 knowledge fairs for bonus parts. In this knowledge fair
, teams can get additional parts to the unit pack by solving logic, algorithmic, technical thinking and programming mini-tasks
    .
  • Accompanying/preparing teachers are also invited to play: by solving a mini-task, they can also obtain parts for their teams.
The competition

During the working time of the competition (building and programming the robots), the preparatory teachers will not be able to help the teams – we will hold a workshop for them to learn about the new tools and methodological developments of Abacusan Studio. During the races, chaperones will be able to cheer on the competitors.

Teams are given an age-appropriate competition task on the spot. The organisers and volunteers will help teams to interpret the task and identify parts of the course.

Teams build and program a robot to solve the task given to them on site, so that it can solve the task and interact with the pre-made robots on the track. During the time allowed to build and program the robots, teams can continuously test their robots on the test track. The robots can solve each sub-task in different ways, depending on the skills and experience of the competitors. The difference between the difficulty of the different solutions is weighted by the judges.

During the competition, we will hold 3 knowledge fairs for bonus parts. In this knowledge fair, teams can earn additional parts to the unit pack by solving logic, algorithmic, technical thinking and programming mini-tasks.

Duration of the competition

4 hours working time + 20 minutes lunch + 1,5 hours competition + 1 hour evaluation, results announcement

Evaluation

During the evaluation, the judges evaluate the robots’ performance and appearance using a fixed scoring table. Competing teams will be presented with the scoring table along with the tasks.

Preparing for

To help them prepare, the organisers will provide preparatory tasks for the competing teams. These tasks require the construction and programming of robots that will help solve the tasks of the competition.

Industrial park

The competition framework: robots for sustainable development

Today, there is a lot of talk about sustainable development. What does it mean in practice? How we use the planet’s resources while taking care of it and preserving nature for future generations.

Sustainability in industry means that factories and companies use new and newer technologies, produce in ways that take care of the environment and do not waste resources. For example, they recycle waste, use energy-efficient machinery, optimise the movement of raw materials and finished products, and choose materials that do not harm the earth.

This time, the ArTeC Globe Championship will also involve teams from each category in solving tasks that promote sustainable development! The robots built by the teams will have to contribute to the operation of an industrial park with environmentally friendly logistics solutions, waste management, environmental protection and accident prevention.

The built robots have to perform the tasks assigned to them and interact with the already programmed robots that are part of the track.

The competing teams can decide whether the robot performs each sub-task automatically or with the intervention of the competitors. The difficulty and complexity of the robotic solution will be assessed by the competition committee during the scoring.
